Braxton David Rice- May 18, 2012

It started all on Thursday May 17, 2012. I had thought my water had decided to break. I called my OB's office to see if they thought it could be something else. Sure enough they told me what we had expected them to say "go to Labor and Delivery, just to be on the safe side." so we packed the car up just to be safe. When we got to L & D (labor and delivery) they got me into triage (which is where they monitor contractions and the babies heart rate/beat.) Before they could even test me to see if my water had broken...the first nurse could not locate a heartbeat which was very unusual since normally the nurse(s) can find it rather quickly. So that nurse called in a second, same thing just searching for his heartbeat. Nothing.
They then called in a Doctor and had a portable ultrasound machine brought in...there wasn't a heartbeat to be found...(this all started around 5 pm) and by 7 ish they had me go into another room where I would later deliver my stillborn son. The nurses started me on potocin around 10 and my cervix was gone by 3:45/4 am. By 4:20 Friday morning he was here, although he was not alive when he came. He weighed in at 5 lbs 9 oz. and was 19" long. Its been a rather hard time for both me and JR. Although I have had a more of a support system than he does so its been hard for him...

Just thought you would want to know the news...

Update on the Pregnancy

Kristin has been having some medical problems...She visited St. Mark's Hospital 2 times last month. The first time the doctors and nurses couldn't find anything wrong. But then the second time she was in they found out that she had 2 different types infections...1st was a full on raging bladder infection while the 2nd was just some type of vaginal infection. She was in a lot of pain.

Then last week on Thursday she went into her OB's office because she was having a lot of pain once again. They took some tests and they came back negative- so no more UTI (but there is still the fact that there is a lot of blood in her urine as well as white blood cells and protein.) She just found out that there isn't an infection this morning.

Her OB had also told her to eat a bowl of ice cream every night. (since she lost 2lbs in a week and a half..) but thankfully with eating a lot of ice cream and some junk food she gained those 2lbs back! Now she just has to keep it up and gain ONE pound a week!

Here is a new ultra sound picture.

Moving day Part 2

Yesterday we rented a 16' U-haul truck and got just about everything out of JR's storage unit...after driving to the apartment we left the U-haul truck there and took his uncle's (aka "granddad's truck-as he puts it) truck and headed to Lehi where we purchased a sectional for only $507 (steal of a deal right?) Not quite...we've had this same manufactured sectional before...and well JR decided to jump onto the chaise lounge part of the sectional and well we later had to reinforce the base with 2x4s- so we'll be doing that as soon as he is feeling better (JR woke up yesterday sick...so that was rather sucky for us both, especially since my back/side will start to hurt randomly at any given moment to the point where all I want to do is cry.)

Although the nice part of this sectional is that the chaise lounge is able to be on either the left or right side of the sectional and we were thinking of even using it for a separate type of "couch" altogether. So its rather nice and its comfy too...but the sad part is, is that the ottoman doesn't have storage of any type.

Then today I needed to get something to wear to my 2nd cousin's baptism so I was able to go back to the apartment and grab some different dresses incase I changed my mind on what I wanted to wear. While I was there I was able to "set up" the kitchen and put things where I think things belong so that was nice.

I will surely keep you updated and even post pictures of everything when its all said and done.

Moving Day Part 1

So today JR and I will be starting the process of moving out of my parents basement.
The apartment is beautiful, but the only downside to it is...there isn't a real oven...we have a toaster oven. But at this apartment we at least have a dishwasher. So that will be nice.

This morning before JR left for work he told me how much he loves me, and how much he wants to parent this little boy that is growing more and more each day/week. Plus he (our little boy) has been kicking like crazy especially last night. JR loves to feel our little baby kick; which is part of the reason why he had a change of mind/heart.

Well I just wanted to keep you updated, but I better get to packing and organizing...

Raising Aaron Joe

We have agreed on a name, Aaron Joe Rice. And we are planning on raising him. I am so excited!

Today JR and I went and looked at some different places for baby gear...we did find a pack 'n' play at Babies 'R' Us that we both really like and a stroller, car seat, and car seat base for a great deal at Walmart. I personally think that we are both excited for our new bundle of joy to be here :)

I also love the fact that my favorite cousin, Sarah, will be here a few weeks after my due date so she can do newborn pictures and baby announcements.

Can you tell I am super stoked? Well I will surely keep you updated on the rest.

The Verdict is in...

...and we are having a boy!!!!

I am so excited to welcome a baby boy into our family. JR doesn't know and wont know until sometime around
the 13 of June. Just about everyone thought I would be having a baby girl...EXCEPT for three
people, one of them being my oldest sister, Lisa, whose youngest will be about 10 months older. He was definitely not shy about showing us that he certainly was a boy. Our little boy was wiggling all over the place...which kind of hurt since I had a full bladder...but nonetheless I am excited to be having a boy
Here are some pictures from my ultrasound (which I had this morning around 10:30)

Here he is smiling so cute!

I like this one a lot

Update on Baby!

So far the doctor says everything looks fabulous and they way it should! Which is always good!

I get to have my "Big Ultrasound" in about 1-2 weeks and I can't wait to find out the gender of my baby. I would love a boy- BUT John has already chosen the name for the child if it is going to be a boy...lame I know...so I am secretly hoping for a girl. Because we haven't decided on a name yet. :)

I really want to find out sooner, but I only have one request form thing...lame I know...but oh well. It's still rather exciting!  And one thing about this pregnancy is you can't even tell that I am pregnant! Crazy! My neighbor was somewhat the same way with her youngest. so I know its not particularly a bad thing.
